 Microneedling

Micro-needling is a minimally invasive, 30 minute, procedure that treats the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and improves the skin’s overall appearance. It creates controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a reduction of the appearance of fine lines and pigmented spots. It also creates superficial micro-channels which can be used with topical gels, creams, and serums to help these active ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin. Because there is no heat involved like with lasers, this procedure can be done on all skin types including those with darker skin.

The benefits of micro-needling can minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging.

Additionally, it may have a positive effect on the appearance of hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks, and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.

The most commonly treated areas are the face, neck, décolleté, and hands. The treatment feels similar to light sandpaper being brushed across the skin.

Immediately after the treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin.

The total healing time may vary from patient to patient. On average, patients are red up to 4 days.

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results can continue to improve up to a few months after a treatment as collagen production continues.

It is recommended for most patients to receive a series of treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart. The number of treatments needed is directly related to how each patient responds individually to each treatment and the improvement we are trying to achieve.

PRP Microneedling (aka Vampire Facial)

If you're dismayed by fine lines, moderate wrinkles, or you have other visible skin issues (i.e. scarring) PRP MicroNeedling can help enhance the quality of your skin through increased collagen production. Collagen production is stimulated when skin cell trauma occurs. During a MicroNeedling session, tiny, minuscule needles penetrate the upper layers of your skin. This causes your body to produce more collagen to heal those injuries to the skin.

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma and is your own blood that is drawn at the beginning of the session. Besides platelets, your blood also contains growth factors & active proteins that help with tissue & injury healing. The blood is spun in a centrifuge that separates the red & white blood cells from the plasma.

The platelet-rich plasma is then spread on the skin and then we use the MicroNeedling pen to begin the procedure.

This platelet-rich plasma enters the skin through the micro-injuries that the MicroNeedling pen makes and increased blood flow to the area begins the healing process of building collagen and elastin to repair the damage.

A numbing cream is used prior to the procedure, and once your skin is numb all you feel is the pressure of the pen.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of sun-damaged and aging skin. A chemical solution is applied to the skin which causes the epidermis or outer layer of skin to separate and peel off. This allows new skin to regenerate at a faster than normal rate. The new skin is often smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin and may be more even in color.

There are many different peels of varying intensity to choose from. Many people decide to do a series of 4-6 superficial light peels on a monthly basis to gently exfoliate the outer layer of skin with minimal downtime.

Others, if their schedule allows, choose a single medium depth peel that penetrates deeper, with better results, but with visible redness and peeling that can last for up to a week.

During your consultation, we will help you determine which skin peel best fits your needs.
